Meandering on a Monday

Meandering is actually a misnomer, as there was no meandering involved, but I do like the alliteration, so there! For the first time this training season, I walked home from work. During my training for the 2008 walk, I was much better about this, walking home a least one evening/week, but work and life have been busy enough this time around that I had not yet managed to commute on my feet until tonight.

What a great walk it was! The temperature was only in the mid-80s, and I was stunned at how quickly the miles seemed to fly by. After all of my recent 18+ mile walks, the walk from downtown to Ballston seemed very short indeed. For a while, I was worried I might get rained on, as the skyline looked quite threatening when I crossed the Key Bridge. (And it looked even more threatening in person than it does in this picture!)

Thankfully, I felt only one raindrop, and as I continued my walk westward, there were no signs of any thunderstorms. I even got a sample of salted caramel frozen yogurt at the Pinkberry that just opened in Clarendon. DELICIOUS! By the time I arrived in Ballston, at about 7:30 this evening, the sky was turning blue again.
And I just measured out the mileage and discovered I walked 8.1 miles today. Not too shabby for a busy Monday!
