Walkless Weekend

I didn't walk at all this weekend, other than just the usual walking that I did to get from place to place. But that's okay, as I'd decided to take a break this weekend, because Robbie and I are in San Francisco!

For my birthday back in December, he gave me the promise of a trip here to see the San Francisco Symphony perform Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony, one of the more magnificent pieces in the world, in my humble opinion! And so we are here! We flew out yesterday morning, arriving at lunchtime, and we saw the symphony perform last night. Wow . . .words cannot express what a wonderful concert this was. The music brought tears to my eyes! And because once is never enough for this piece, we went back this afternoon and saw a second performance, just as tremendous as the first.

This weekend has been the best birthday present ever! In addition to the two concerts, we had the chance to relax, eat lots of yummy food, and even sat in the lobby of the Westin St. Francis for an afternoon drink. What decadence! And speaking of decadent, I had the most delicious chocolate croissant pudding, with toffee sauce, toasted pecans, and strawberries for dessert at Café de la Presse, where we ate dinner tonight. YUM!

We fly out on the red eye tonight, and as long as I'm not too jet-lagged tomorrow, I plan to get back to walking.
